About this Blog
CIOLaw.org offers the IT executive a centralized, practical, easy-to-follow guide through the rapidly evolving world of electronically stored information (“ESI”) and the legal system. It is written with the non-lawyer in mind.
In today’s e-world, CIOs are faced with more responsibility than ever to properly archive email and other ESI. E-Discovery amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure increase the burden on CIOs to be ready for litigation. Not only must email and other ESI be properly archived, but the rules also require that CIOs be able to quickly implement legal holds and modify retention policies. Failing to do so could cost millions of dollars. Moreover, regulations require keeping ESI over long periods of time.
Using real-world legal cases, CIOLaw.org illustrates important e-Discovery concepts and terminology that CIOs should know. Moreover, CIOLaw.org provides up-to-date news regarding e-Discovery and regulations, including keeping an eye out for new judicial opinions that impact ESI.
